Dean Elliott Albon Sr.

	Dean Elliott Albon Sr., age 80, of Elkville, passed away Sunday evening at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.
	Born in Carbondale in 1919, Albon also lived in DuQuoin, St. Louis and Elkville.  In 1943 he graduated from (now) Rose Holman College with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  From 1943 to 1945 he served with distinction during the second World War with the 31st combat eng.  He attained the rank of first lieutenant and saw action in France and Germany.
	The beloved husband of the late Joanne Smith Albon, he is survived by a sister, Alice Griffin of Fort Meyers, Fla. and his children, Jeanne Franke of St. Louis, Mo., Dean E. Albon Jr. of Elkville, Barbara Jane Albon of Kansas City, Mo. and George N. Albon IV of San Francisco, Ca.  He is also missed by daughter-in-law, Vicki Albon; a son-in-law, Corbet Franke and grandchildren, Clark, Joel and Kathryn Albon and great-grandchildren , Christopher Midkiff and Nicholas Clark.  He was preceded in death by his parents George N. Albon Jr. and Beatirce (Elliott) Albon.  Also, two brothers preceded him in death.
	Dean was employed in the blasting industry and worked for Airmite Midwest in DuQuoin until taking a job with Monsanto Chemical Company in their blasting products division in 1970 in St. Louis, Mo.  He retired in 1984.
	He was a charter member of the Society of Explosive Engineers.  he was a member of the Benevolent Order of Elks for 54 years.  he was a registered professional engineer.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
	A celebration of life in honor of Mr. Albon was held at Huffman Harker Funeral Home, 210 W. Oak, Carbondale, on Wednesday, August 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.
	 Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
